Cristina’s Story

Karim Khan Afridi Welfare Foundation (KKAWF) was launched in June, 2015 in Islamabad after Mrs. Cristina von Sperling Afridi and Ambassador (Retd.) Tariq Khan Afridi lost their 19 years old son Karim Khan Afridi in 2014. This cause became their inspiration and a motivational force to engage and facilitate the youth in protecting their lives that are vulnerable to the dangers of drug abuse.

Thus, it became the mission of KKAWF to use drug prevention as a tool to empower the young population and help them to make healthy life choices and build a better future. KKAWF’s goal is to keep children and young people away from drugs. It believes that Early Prevention is the most effective strategy to address the alarming rise in use of drugs.

KKAWF believes that using prevention education is the only safeguard for the community and the best approach for young people to build a system of self-defence that protects them from risky behaviours and build healthy lives and a better future. Prevention and early intervention strategies can reduce drug use and related crime and violence.

Together with Youth to
Identify, Understand & Manage Emotions.

Our Pillars

KKAWF engages with the youth and communities through its Prevention and Life-Skills education programmes. Using its
five pillars of Drug Awareness, Environment, Sports, Arts & Culture and to develop Civic Sense to build protective
barriers and help youth to better identify, understand and manage emotions.

NO MORE YOUNG LIVES CAN BE LOST. Pakistan with a young population of estimated 150 million under age 30, faces extreme challenges to keep its youth protected from the alarming rise in drug use – estimated 8.9M users and over 4M addicts (ANF 2015). We cannot allow the future of our youth to be stolen from them. It is imperative that Early Drug Prevention Strategies are implemented to raise awareness, educate and convey better knowledge surrounding drug use.
